Felt

Today I am going to talk about FELT. Felt is used in sewing for all different projects. It can be used to make a hair tie, a toy, a pocket book, a feltie, etc.

There are different types of felt, such as described in the image below. Here are some: Hand dyed wool, recycled eco felt, 3mm Wool felt, tough felts, soft felts, craft felt, blended wool felt, 100% wool felt.

What type of felt should I get?

That is absolutely up to you. I suggest getting eco friendly felt to be a friend to the environment.
However some projects may require a specific type of felt, so I will let you know when that requirement must be in place for projects.

If you have not purchased felt before or would like some for an upcoming celebration of yours, buy or ask someone to buy a felt pack. They are good to start with and come with the basic colours. I have
one that is similar to the image below.

Where do I purchase felt?

Felt is available at craft shops and sewing shops.

It's always important to have good quality material. That's why I buy most of my fabric at Lincraft, as I have mentioned, they are the best quality.

This page is where I will tell you about what materials I buy and what types you should have for different projects on this blog.

I bought this fabric at another op-shop because I thought it was daggy but might come in good use for some applique.

This fabric { cotton } I bought a long time ago. I dug it out of one of my huge sewing boxes and made a pillow with it. It was bought at Lincraft.

I found this green cotton fabric in an op-shop. It is good quality and costed an incredibly low $3 for 2 metres. That made my day!

Today I went to Spotlight http://www.spotlight.com.au/ } and  found this adorable Snugglepot and Cuddlepie fabric. It is called Gumnut Babies Wattle Gold 112 and costs $10 per metre. This Australian themed fabric would be perfect for a project to give to someone.

If you want to find affordable good quality fabric, you should look in op-shops. People who haven't got the time for sewing { mostly } donate their wonderful materials. I reccommend going to op-shops such as Salvos http://salvosstores.salvos.org.au/ , Vinnies http://www.vinnies.org.au/donations-in-material-national or any random op-shop.

Support your local op-shops.

This cotton material is Anything goes Bouque from Lincraft. I love all the beautiful flowers, and that's what caught my eye.

This material is Australian Spirit, cotton. I bought it at Lincraft a little while ago. It is perfect material for a passport pouch. I think it costs $13.00 a metre

This is Elvis fabric { cotton }, but I forgot the name. Bought at Lincraft, it is retro and cool.
